Primary Purpose of Position
The Vice President of Transportation & Logistics (T&L) is responsible for developing and executing Large Food & Beverage Company’s transportation and warehousing strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization.
Specifically, the qualified candidate will lead the areas of transportation planning leadership, internal/third-party warehouse optimization and consolidation, warehouse team leadership, asset optimization, inventory management and a significant contributor to present and future network analysis designs.
The VP of T&L is a key partner in the Supply Chain organization to successfully collaborate with supply planning, procurement, and customer service in addition to Operations and Commercial functions.
10-15 years’ experience in the associated job duties and essential functions; 7-10 years of leadership experience, with at least 5 years of senior management/executive experience.
Experience with a private company or large business unit, preferably with complex manufacturing footprint. Food & Beverage Experience Preferred
Thorough knowledge and experience with food safety regulations and food logistics operations in a multi-temperature storage and shipping environment.
Experience in business turnaround situations at a significant growth pace.
BA/BS degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field, MBA or MA/MS in supply chain a plus
Experience WMS, TMS and knowledge of transit tracking systems
Excellent Written and Communication Skills

Major Job Duties and Essential Functions:
Create and establish best practices for managing external transportation providers in conjunction with the company's mission and strategic vision.
Lead and engage a team of offsite direct and indirect reports totaling 85+ employees encompassing Large Food & Beverage Company’s 6 internal warehouses, shipping/receiving operations and physical inventory management.
Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key industry trends and upcoming changes that could impact business operations.
Utilize prior experience and knowledge to ensure T&L’s digital platform is effectively maximizing resource utilization. Recommend and lead the implementation of software systems such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
Anticipate and contingency plan for unforeseen disruptions that could adversely impact Large Food & Beverage Company’s strategic plan. These scenario plans will be inducted into the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process.
Establish processes and a culture to enable Large Food & Beverage Company to become a “Shipper of Choice” at both internal and external warehouse locations.
Successfully collaborate with Large Food & Beverage Company’s Commercial and Operation’s functions to exceed customer experience expectations.
Evaluate and recommend future transportation sourcing and execution models to keep pace with Large Food & Beverage Company’s growth.
Some travel will be required to various locations through the organization as needed.
